The City of Norfolk Waste Management, Keep Norfolk Beautiful and EnviroPerks will facilitate a children’s creative challenge from August 5th, 2016 to January 8th, 2017, where children will be challenged to produce artwork encouraging Norfolk residents to recycle and live greener.
Available Prizes:
- Children with winning entries will receive prizes, such as Amazon tablets and Beats headphones; three children winners total (1 per school level: elementary, middle school and high school). See details on page 2.
- Three teachers who encourage the most submissions, will be awarded a $50 gift card or equivalent.
Who Can Participate:
Any child between the ages of 4 to 18, residing in Norfolk can participate. The children’s families don’t need to be EnviroPerks users.
How Much It Costs:
Nothing. Participation is free.
How To Participate:
Children will use their favorite creative outlet (example: painting, photographs, drawings, video, crafts, recycled materials, article, poem, etc.) to encourage Norfolk to be greener and/or to recycle. An example could be to illustrate the following sentence “Recycle for the future” or “Recycle for Norfolk”. Another example could be to illustrate the “3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.
Deadline:
January 8th 2017 at midnight.
Children send a digital version or a photo of their artwork per email to info@enviroperks.com before January 8th 2017, along with the submission agreement, which must be signed by their parents. If the project has been encouraged by a teacher, the teacher’s name should be added onto the submission form.
How The Judging Process Works:
The committee formed of members of the City of Norfolk, Keep Norfolk Beautiful, and EnviroPerks will decide the winners.
When The Winners Are Contacted:
Winning children and teachers will be contacted January 12th, 2017 and invited to an award ceremony in early February 2017, at the Norfolk City Hall.
Participants can find more information on the EnviroPerks’ Facebook page, and by searching the hashtags “#NorfolkKidsCreate”.
Prizes:
One winner will be selected per school level, as follows:
• Elementary School Level:
Winner receives an Amazon Fire Kids Edition, 7″ Display tablet
Winner will also receive a EnviroPerks give-away, and a certificate from EnviroPerks.
• Middle School Level:
Winner receives an Amazon Fire, 7″ Display tablet
Winner will also receive a EnviroPerks give-away, and a certificate from EnviroPerks.
• High School Level:
Winner receives Beats Solo2 headphones
Winner will also receive a EnviroPerks give-away, and a certificate from EnviroPerks.
Teachers (3 selected):
The 3 teachers whose names appear on the most submissions will win a $50 gift card or equivalent, regardless of school level.
All winners will receive a EnviroPerks give-away, and a certificate from EnviroPerks.
